Going, Going, Gone...

This Saturday will be the last farmers market for the 2009 season. The Orange County HomeGrown Farmers Market will be open from 9 a.m. until noon and is located on the west side of the beautiful historic Congress Square Park in Orleans. If you haven't had the chance to visit this outstanding farmers market, this is your last chance and you don't want to miss it! The hundreds of vendors offer goods from the garden, baked goodies as well as arts and crafts.

Bring your children in costume this week for trick-or-treating at the Boo Parade with the friendly vendors and volunteers. There will be horse and buggy rides and Mary Lou Beckett, Master Gardener, will be on hand to answer your gardening questions. She will also test your garden soil for free! Just bring 2 cups of soil in a container for her to test.

After the farmers market, be sure to return to enjoy "Halloween on the Square" from 6 to 8 p.m. Participate in safe Trunk or Treat activities and some of the Orleans merchants will be open and treating youngsters.

Also, don't forget to mark your calendars for holiday shopping at the Orange County HomeGrown Holiday Market, which is set for Saturday, November 14th from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Orleans Elementary School gymnasium and cafeteria. Vendors are already busy preparing wonderful gifts for you to buy this season!
