Foodies…we know them, we love them and let’s be honest we all would love to be one! Now’s your time to shine, join in on Indiana Foodway Alliance Culinary Trails. What are you craving? I’m sure the Food Trail covers it! “Indiana Foodways is a statewide non-profit organization dedicated to the celebration, promotion and preservation of the authentic food culture of Indiana.” This is a “membership organization of inquisitive eaters, good cooks, culinary tourists, artisans and manufacturers.” Throughout 2019, Visit French Lick West Baden will be highlighting the restaurants featured on the Indiana Food Alliance Culinary Trail.
This month we are featuring Sprigler’s Farm Market & Deli, located in the “front porch” of Orange County; Orleans. Owners Wendy Sprigler and husband Simon, “take pride in the fresh and delicious food that they serve.”
Wendy and Simon grow some of the produce that is sold in their deli. They are also part of the Orange County HomeGrown Orleans Farmer’s Market, a local Farmer’s Market also featured on the food trail! They are proud to have been part of the first Farmer’s Market that started many years ago in nearby Paoli and then moved to the town of Orleans, where it still takes place today! Wendy tells us they mostly grow potatoes such as Kennebec, Yukon Gold, and Red potatoes that are all used in their deli as well as being sold at their booth at the Farmer’s Market.
Sprigler’s Farm Market & Deli serves hot and cold sandwiches, with their chicken salad croissant being their most popular cold sandwich and their Reuben being their most popular hot sandwich. Other delicious items include grilled chicken and chef salads, fresh fruit salad, broccoli & cauliflower salad, cornbread salad…all made fresh daily! Check out these other great items; wraps, desserts, cookies, hand-dipped ice cream and custom cut deli meats and cheeses.
Sprigler’s Market & Deli not only sells great food, they also sell many locally made and locally grown items as well. They have a beautiful display of primitive and gift items for sale. Local items include: Maple Syrup from Vance & Myra’s Maple Leaf Farm in Orleans; Honey from Brian & Nanette Hawkins in Paoli; Handmade Baby Blankets, burp cloths, & baby bibs made by Margie Delph of Paoli; Handmade Doll Clothes, tooth fairy pillows, and soup koozies made by Priscilla Meek of Floyd Knobs; Candles and melts made by Katlin & Rowan Phillips of Moth Moon Candles in Orleans; Children’s tutu’s made by Lynn Puckett of Orleans; Goat soaps from Leann Brummage’s Back to Nature Farm in Bedford.
Wendy says, “The team of ladies that make up the Sprigler Team take great pride in their work and have a great love for their community, customers, and each other.” Not only is Sprigler’s a great place to eat and shop, they also have a gathering room available for rent for family gatherings, graduation, birthday and bridal parties, baby showers and much, much more! They also offer catering for small groups and events.
On your next visit to French Lick West Baden stop by Sprigler’s Farm Market & Deli, in the Dogwood Capital of Indiana to try one of Wendy and Simon’s delicious deli items (speaking from personal experience, their food is wonderful!) Their hometown charm is next to none, come enjoy a taste!
