No, we’re not talking about ghosts! In 2016, French Lick Winery opened Spirits of French Lick, the largest pot-still distillery in the state of Indiana. Focusing on four pillars of distilling: bourbon, brandy, botanical spirits, and American whiskey, they create prohibition style products and distill them in a historical method. Stop in for an informative tour given by distiller Alan Bishop, on select Saturdays. Don’t forget to partake in a bourbon tasting as well!

The Grains

The wheat and corn for the product are grown on the Doty family owned Hoosier Homestead-a designated farm using sustainable farming practices. A 15-acre plot of Alan’s very own hybrid (the “Amanda Palmer”), of open-heirloom corn is grown annually and used in the estate bourbon. The development of the hybrid strain of grain is part of what sets Spirits of French Lick apart from other distilleries. It is also one of very few distilleries equipped with a grain mill on site.
